Selah Grace :)

So I know that it is really cliche, but its true, life is a MIRACLE. I have watched a baby story and all that on tv, but today for the first time, I was actually a part of the birth of a child. Joselyn, one of the girls in our home gave birth to her baby today via c-section. I was able to be there with her during the surgery, and watch the whole thing, and even though I sat there and watched the baby come from her stomach, it is still so hard to believe that she once was nothing, but God breathed life into her, and now she is a real live breathing, precious little angel.

The nurse even stamped her foot on my arm :)

Joselyn resting back in the room. She is doing well, and still without pain.

Selah Grace born at 8:30 am weighing 5 lbs and measuring 18 inches long :)

Even though she was born a few weeks early, she is bigger than imagined and doing great!

Genesis 2:7 "the Lord God formed the man from dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being."

The best way to spend a hot day. . .

Washing the dog.

Today is hot.

I know that many of you very well may be furious about the fact that this is my choice of posting subject, but its true, we are in the mid 90s today, and for us, that is hot.

First there is my dear family who is probably enjoying the fact that the temperature in northern Indiana is now above freezing. And on the other side, I know that my other friends living down the mountain in Managua would love if it was only a mere 95 degrees. But regardless, here we are. You see we get spoiled up here in El Crucero. Our weather is normally between 65 and 85 with a constant breeze. Its cool in the morning and warms up during the day, so that we are never in need of a/c or heat.

But, the last few days it has gotten hotter, and today especially. With barely any breeze, we are enjoying the fact that it is simply hot. So we went outside, I parked myself in the partially shaded area of the yard, and watched the kids play. (They don't mind the heat)

Ruby LOVES the hammock

Also a special thanks to Gina who came up to spend the night with us last night! Thank you for your help, we LOVED having you :)

Another Birthday Celebration!

Today Ezequiel turned 15!

He is the only boy in the home over the age of 3, but luckily he can hold his own with all the girls around :)

Cake made by Shirley and Joslyn :)

We celebrated with some cake and ice cream after a delicious dinner Shirley made for all of us living here at New Hope!

Thanks Shirley!

Happy Birthday Emily!

Today was Emily's 2nd birthday! We enjoyed some delicious pasteles that Shirley and Joselyn made :)

The birthday girl of course loved it :)

As well as everyone else!

Cupcake eating with a spoon is a new technic I had never seen. . .

But so long as the B-day girl is happy, its been a good night.

sick

We have been sick :( Everything from coughs to neumonia to faringoamigatitis (don’t ask me what that means, all I know is putting an 8 year old on bedrest for 48 hrs is more work on the mama than on the child.) But fortunately we are definitely feeling better and ALL kids are back in school! despite the infinitely long list of medicines that still have to be taken for a couple more days.

Ofelia with the nebulizer. Two of them were being nebulized every 4 hours!
Luckily they were good at sitting and doing it with out any real argument.

So in the mean time we have been doing a lot of grooming : ) Between the last two days I have cut 60 finger nails and 60 toe nails, (that’s a total of 120 not counting my own), and painted 55 finger or toe nails. (Ruby decided half way through she only wanted the one hand done.) But that number would have been a little higher if the little boys got their way. I cleaned a glass eye twice (the second time was not planned) and had to put it in a third time (don't ask). Picked lice out of five of my girls, and rubbed/gave preventative scabies medicine to everyone in the house (18 people). But in spite of nearly naming the home a quarantine zone, we are doing well, and praising the Lord for it!

A couple painted toe nails. The feet also happen to belong to emily who celebrated her second birthday today!

Festival and the Pool!

Today we went to a festival at the Nicaraguan Christian Academy, played fair games, got faces painted and won prizes (the tiaras the girls are wearing)! After that we went to the pool and although I swam with them for a while, my favorite part was sitting soaking up the sun and reading a book :)

Here is part of the group with the pool in the background!

Motherhood

The title is really just a way to tie two unrelated ideas together in one post :)

I attended my first parents meeting this week! A couple of our girls are in preschool and I was the mother elected to attend. They were so cute, and so excited to show me their classroom and introduce me to their teachers :) Here they are on their first day of school!

Next is a request for prayers. Joslynn is around 15 years old and due to have a baby the end of April. Monday, and then today again, she started having contractions and had to be taken to the hospital where they were able to give her medicine to stop them. The doctor says the baby is looking good, it just needs to stay inside a few weeks longer!
