Luviana's Eye

Today was an exciting day in the life of 7 year old Luviana, she got an artificial eye! Thanks to generous donations, we were able to get her an artificial eye to fill the void on the left side of her face. She is a beautiful young girl and has a beautiful smile, but now also has a beautiful eye to add to it. As she sat on my lap in the doctors office (I had to be there to learn how to put it in and take it out as well as clean it!) she was so excited when they put it in. She actually brought a tear to my eye as she exclaimed, "Lauren, MIRA! (LOOK)" and turned around to wrap her arms around my neck! Just precious.

The bad news is that it appears that there is no surgical way to fix her right eye. But fortunately we have a God who is bigger than medicine and has every ability to heal the sick. Simply speaking, we pray for a miracle, but are loving the life and spirit she has even as a legally blind child.

Here are some before and after pictures :) Note that she is still learning to hold open the left eye, so we struggled to get a good picture, especially because she is full of smiles, and smiling forces it to close more!

It's a beautiful morning

The sun is shining brightly today and the babies are settled into nap time. Here it is just one of those days that makes you feel as though the whole world is at peace.

After arriving back to El Crucero almost exactly a week ago, I am loving getting back in the groove of things with all the kiddos. Life has been busy of course, but full of unforseen blessings. God is constantly working in ways that are unimaginable and providing in ways I could have never dreamt.

Today Luviana is going to see another doctor and we are all praying for this third doctor to bring the positive diagnosis we want to hear.

'The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. . . They have no speech, they use no words; no sound is heard from them. Yet their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world.' Psalm 19
