that whole electricity thing

when your camera has a flash it's difficult to actually document the dark. . . but imagine the power being out, and the room only being illuminated by this candle

The power was out for three-ish hours- not by any means the longest we have gone, but it is a little more complicated when it's dark out but not yet bed time. It went out right before dinner time and came on right after we decided to put the littlest ones to sleep early because we ran out of ways to occupy them in the dark.

So while this is what the room looked like with no flash. . .

Here we are enjoying the dark. (Like I said, you can't tell by the pictures, but we had fun playing with the flash and aiming in the dark to see what appeared)
